Performance, 2021 (60 min)
Cotton rug, paper, voice.
A woman, a sculpture and a man in an art gallery is not the beginning of a joke but simply how we met
You said rock and I heard rug
and so I tried to see a rug in it even if
you said rock.
We looked at a thing
thinking about two different things
thinking that we were thinking about the exact same thing
And we went on talking about a rock/rug
talking about the same thing having something different in mind […]
“Aladdin’s lexicon” is a solo performance in which a rug, and linguistic idioms related to it, is used to reflect upon language, ambiguity, and fragile balances.
Premiered in Myymälä2, Helsinki, during the festival “7x7”.
